Zebra’s play their heart out, but Rio Americano prevails

Stands filled, energy flowing, the varsity boys basketball team of Lincoln High School fought hard.  The fans were loud as usual and put Rio Americano’s fans to shame.  Regardless of all of the excited fans and the determination of the basketball team, the zebras still suffered a devastating playoff loss.

The game started off on a positive note when the zebras took a commanding lead.  That lead fell short when the Rio Americano Raiders came back and took the lead by one at halftime.  Both teams battled hard through the third quarter, but the raiders inched ahead at the end of the third quarter and maintained the lead throughout the fourth.  The final score was 66-60 in favor of the Raiders.

Overall, the Lincoln High School Varsity Zebras record this year was 20-8.  They went 7-3 in league and battled hard but couldn’t get a hand on the banner.  They had a good season and exceeded all expectations.

Marcus Salgado, says that, “the effort was there, but we let them hit too many open threes”. Adam Felt says that they should have “keyed in on their shooters”.  When asked about the way they felt about the season as a whole, Felt said that, “we did better than anybody thought we would”.

Lincoln High School cannot wait till next year’s basketball season.
